We recommend the IRIS USA WeatherPro 19-Qt Gasket Storage Bins (6-pack)
“The IRIS Weathertight 6-pack wins on value by a wide margin — six identical 19-quart gasketed bins for considerably less than one Yeti. For dry-goods pantry storage in a van, the IRIS set is the practical choice. The Yeti is overkill unless you specifically need waterproof crash protection.”

The short answer
Buy the IRIS Weathertight set for your van pantry. At a budget price, the linked set gives you six identical 19-quart clear bins with gasketed, buckle-latch lids, enough to separate snacks and breakfast items, dinner staples, coffee and backup stores into their own boxes. For dry goods kept inside the van, it gives you far more organized, sealed storage for the money than the GoBox, which is why it wins this matchup.
Buy the Yeti LoadOut GoBox 30 only for gear that needs real protection. The Amazon listing says it "meets IP65 and IP67 international ratings to be dustproof and fully submersible," and BCF, a YETI retailer, describes the IP67 test as submersion in 1 metre of water for up to 30 minutes. That suits a stove and knife kit that rides through rain, water crossings, salt spray or rough handling. It's a well-built case, but it's one premium-priced box, and pasta doesn't need submersion protection.
What the links sell: the IRIS link is the 6-pack of 19-quart bins, clear with black lids (ASIN B00I3944PW, IRIS model 585420). IRIS now markets the line as WeatherPro; older listings and this site's earlier coverage call it Weathertight. The Yeti link is the GoBox 30 in white (ASIN B0BSJC3HP5, YETI model 26010000215), the updated version with what the listing calls a "HeftyHauler Handle and upgraded latches."
These two do different jobs, and many builds end up with both. Read the full IRIS USA Weathertight 19-Qt bins review and Yeti GoBox 30 review, and see the van kitchen storage guide for how a pantry system and a hard case fit together.

IRIS figures come from the Amazon listing; IRIS's own page gives 17.50 x 11.75 x 7.88 inches outside, the same box rounded differently. Pack Hacker lists the GoBox 30 at 20.5 x 14.6 x 11.1 inches and 11.8 lb, probably for an earlier version. BCF lists 5.5 kg, about 12.1 lb, empty. IRIS doesn't publish a bin weight.
Pantry organization and total capacity
The IRIS set is six identical 19-quart bins, so six of them give you roughly 114 quarts of sealed storage. Identical bins are easy to plan around: they stack the same way, swap between cubbies, and one cabinet opening sized for them fits all six. Lids are interchangeable too, so a spare bin is effectively a spare lid. Give each bin a job: one for breakfast and coffee, one for pasta, rice and grains, one for canned goods, one for snacks, and the rest for backup stores. The clear walls let you see what's left without opening every lid, which helps when you're writing a grocery list.
The trade-offs: there is no small bin for spices, and the 7-inch interior height won't take a standing olive oil bottle or a tall cereal box. Use small containers inside a bin for small items, and check your tallest pantry items before you buy.
The GoBox 30 is one box of about 30 litres, from BCF's 17.7 x 11.8 x 8.7 inch interior. BCF lists a removable divider, a cargo tray and a Pack Attic gear compartment as included; check the Amazon listing for exactly what ships with the current version. That layout organizes one complete cooking kit well. For pantry goods, though, one deep opaque box means digging through everything to find the oats.
Edge: IRIS Weathertight, because six see-through bins with more than three times the GoBox's volume fit how a pantry actually works.
Seal: weathertight vs waterproof
The IRIS lids have a gasket in a channel around the rim, compressed when the buckles close. IRIS says the seals "block out moisture and dust," and the Amazon listing calls it an "airtight gasket seal" against "moisture, dust, and pests." Neither publishes a test standard or an IP rating, so read "airtight" as "well sealed for storage." For dry goods, that's what matters: a seated gasket helps keep out pantry moths and weevils, stops odours travelling between bins and slows the humidity swings that cake salt and sugar. The one habit to build is checking that the gasket hasn't lifted out of its channel when you close the lid. It isn't designed for submersion.
The GoBox's gasketed lid, clamped by YETI's Lockdown Latches, carries the IP65 and IP67 ratings the listing states: dust-tight, protected against water jets and against temporary immersion. The seal only works when the gasket is clean and every latch is closed. If a box could end up in standing water, on a roof rack in days of rain, or under a leaky vent, only the Yeti has a published rating for that.
Edge: Yeti GoBox 30 for protection from water. For keeping dry goods dry inside the cabin, the IRIS seal is enough.
Durability and lifespan
This is the IRIS set's weak point, and its review says so. The body is heavy-duty polypropylene, and the plastic buckle latches flex on a thin molded hinge. On bins like these the latches are the likeliest part to wear: repeated flexing fatigues the hinge, cold makes the plastic stiffer and more likely to crack, and polypropylene ages faster under sustained UV. IRIS publishes no UV rating, and the Amazon listing's warranty field says there is no warranty. A cracked latch doesn't end the bin, since the lid still sits on its gasket and a bungee holds it down, but budget for replacing a bin over time and keep the set out of direct sun.
The GoBox is a thick, stiff case. The listing calls its shell YETI's "Defender" material and says it "can't legally be called unbreakable"; BCF calls it "virtually unbreakable." Read both as marketing, but it is clearly built for much harder use than a pantry bin, with a NeverFail hinge, heavy latches and, per BCF, a 5-year warranty. Check the terms for your region and seller.
Edge: Yeti GoBox 30, by a wide margin. It's built for far harder use than a thin-walled pantry bin.
Stacking and stability in a moving van
Both stack, but neither locks into a single unit. The IRIS bins have grooves on the lid and body so any bin sits on any other. IRIS publishes no stacking load, so put the heaviest bins at the bottom and keep stacks to about three high in a moving vehicle. The grooves locate the bins but don't hold them, so a hard corner or washboard can push the top bin loose unless the stack is held by a cam strap or a snug cubby. The uniform footprint makes cubby design simple: size the opening so the bins sit snug with a finger's width to spare.
The GoBox listing describes a "Pack-and-Stack Design" for stacking GoBoxes, and its AnchorPoint tie-down slots give a cam strap a proper path through the case. That makes a single GoBox easy to fix to the floor or a drawer slide. Stacked GoBoxes still need a strap; stacking aligns them, it doesn't restrain them.
Edge: Yeti GoBox 30, for tie-down slots that make restraint easier. The IRIS works well once you strap it or build a cubby around it.
Weight and space efficiency
Six 19-quart bins give you about 114 quarts of sealed storage, more than three times the GoBox 30's roughly 30 litres. Thin-walled bins are much lighter for the volume than a heavy-walled case; the GoBox 30 alone is about 12 pounds empty on BCF's figure. The catch is footprint: six bins at about 17.5 x 11.8 inches each need real cabinet or under-bed space, so measure before you commit all six to a small van. And remember that canned goods are dense. A bin full of cans can weigh 20 pounds or more, so load the heaviest bins lowest.
Edge: IRIS Weathertight, for much more sealed storage per pound.
Value
The IRIS set is a budget buy, and the GoBox 30 is a premium case that costs considerably more for one box. Check current prices with the buttons on each review, since they move often. Per sealed bin, the IRIS set is far cheaper.
Even if you replace a bin or two over a few years because of latch wear, the cost of a complete pantry stays low. The GoBox earns its price only when it protects gear worth more than the case from conditions that would ruin it. For dry goods stored inside, it doesn't. A sensible setup for many builds is IRIS bins for the pantry and, if your travels call for it, one GoBox or another rugged case for the gear that can't get wet.
Which one should you buy?
Buy the IRIS Weathertight set if:
- You're building a dry-goods pantry inside the van
- You want several identical bins so staples, snacks and backups each have their own box
- You like clear bins you can check at a glance
- You'd rather spend the difference somewhere else in the build
Buy the Yeti LoadOut GoBox 30 if:
- Your kitchen kit rides on a roof rack, in a trailer or anywhere it gets wet
- You need submersion-rated protection for water crossings or beach camping
- You want one rugged, divided case for stove, fuel and knives
- You'd rather pay once for a heavy-duty case with a stated warranty
FAQ
Are IRIS Weathertight bins waterproof? No. The gasket keeps out dust and moisture when properly seated, but IRIS publishes no IP rating and they aren't designed for submersion. For water exposure, use a case with a published submersion rating, such as the Yeti GoBox 30 (listed as IP65 and IP67).
Is the Yeti GoBox 30 worth it for a van pantry? Usually not. One GoBox costs considerably more than the whole six-bin IRIS set and holds less. The GoBox earns its price protecting gear from water and impact, not storing dry goods.
How long do IRIS Weathertight latches last? IRIS doesn't publish a latch life or a warranty term. Plastic buckle latches are the likeliest wear point on bins like these, especially in cold weather and direct sun. If one cracks, a bungee over the lid keeps the bin usable until you replace it.
Can you stack IRIS bins while driving? Yes, with a cam strap or a snug cubby. The grooved lids locate the bins but don't lock them, and IRIS publishes no stacking load rating.
Which is better for storing a camp stove and fuel? For the stove itself, the Yeti GoBox 30: its deeper interior, included divider and tray, and IP65/IP67-listed shell suit a complete cooking kit better than a pantry bin. Fuel needs more thought. Follow the storage instructions printed on each canister; a sealed case in direct sun, or a van parked in summer heat, can get hotter than the limits many canisters print. Where you can, keep fuel in an outside locker, a rear box or a vented compartment rather than sealed inside the living space, keep canisters upright, and check them for damage. Many butane and propane camp stoves are labelled by their makers for outdoor use only; check your stove's manual. The GoBox is for carrying the kit, not a reason to cook indoors. See the van cooking safety guide.
