EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max vs EcoFlow DELTA 3
Two EcoFlow LiFePO4 stations from the same generation: the 1 kWh, 1,800 W DELTA 3 and the 2 kWh, 2,400 W DELTA 3 Max. The question is whether induction headroom and double the energy are worth 17 extra pounds and the loss of expansion batteries.

EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Portable Power Station, 2048Wh, 2400W (EF-DL-H02-3M)
For: Induction cooking with headroom

EcoFlow DELTA 3 Portable Power Station, 1024Wh, 1800W (EF-DL-H10-3)
For: 1,800 W induction plus fridge
We recommend the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Portable Power Station, 2048Wh, 2400W (EF-DL-H02-3M)
“For anyone buying a station to cook on induction, the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max is the better pick. Its 2,400 W continuous rating runs the Duxtop 9100MC at full power with 600 W to spare, where the DELTA 3's 1,800 W leaves none, and its 2,048 Wh doubles the full-power cooking time to about an hour by our estimate. The DELTA 3 is the better fit if you mainly run a 12 V fridge and devices, cook on gas or at 1,500 W and below, or want to add capacity later: it weighs 27.6 lb against 44.8 lb, has six AC outlets against four, and accepts extra batteries, which the DELTA 3 Max manual doesn't list.”

The short answer
If induction is your main way of cooking, buy the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max. Its 2,400 W continuous rating runs the Duxtop 9100MC at its full 1,800 W with about 600 W to spare, and its 2,048 Wh gives about an hour of full-power cooking per charge by our estimate. The DELTA 3's 1,800 W rating matches the Duxtop exactly, with no headroom, for about half an hour.
Buy the EcoFlow DELTA 3 if your main loads are a 12 V fridge and devices, you cook on gas or on a cooktop you can cap at 1,500 W or below, or you want to lift the station often. It weighs 27.6 lb against 44.8 lb, has six AC outlets against four, has a published 4,000-cycle rating, and accepts extra batteries, which the DELTA 3 Max manual doesn't list.

Induction cooking: the deciding difference
Our induction guide's rule is that the station's continuous AC rating should sit comfortably above the cooktop's maximum draw plus any other AC load, not just match it. Surge ratings don't count, because a cooktop draws its wattage for minutes.
Duxtop 9100MC (1,800 W maximum)
- DELTA 3 Max: 2,400 W continuous leaves about 600 W of headroom. Estimated runtime at full power: 2,048 × 0.85 = 1,741 Wh, and 1,741 ÷ 1,800 = about 58 minutes. At 90% efficiency, 1,843 ÷ 1,800 = about 61 minutes.
- DELTA 3: 1,800 W continuous matches the cooktop exactly. Keep every other AC load off while it's on full power. Estimated runtime: 870 ÷ 1,800 = about 29 minutes, up to 922 ÷ 1,800 = about 31 minutes.
Nuwave PIC Gold (1,500 W default, 900 W and 600 W settings)
- DELTA 3 Max: about 900 W of headroom at 1,500 W. Estimated runtime 1,741–1,843 Wh ÷ 1,500 W = about 70–74 minutes.
- DELTA 3: about 300 W of headroom at 1,500 W. Estimated runtime 870–922 Wh ÷ 1,500 W = about 35–37 minutes.
A typical cook. Our guide's 20-minute cook at a steady 1,000 W uses about 333 Wh at the cooktop. The DELTA 3 Max covers about five of those per charge, and the DELTA 3 about two and a half.
All runtimes assume a full start, a steady draw at the stated wattage, nothing else plugged in, and 85–90% inverter efficiency. They're estimates, not measurements.
X-Boost defaults differ. Both stations use X-Boost, which runs loads above the rated output by lowering the voltage. EcoFlow's manuals say it suits heating devices and may stop devices with voltage protection. The DELTA 3's manual says it's off by default, and the DELTA 3 Max's says it's on by default. An 1,800 W cooktop alone stays below the DELTA 3 Max's 2,400 W, so it shouldn't engage. Both cooktop manuals list voltage limits, so don't rely on X-Boost for cooking on either station.
Edge: DELTA 3 Max, clearly, if induction is part of your plan.
Running a 12 V fridge
Both have a 12.6 V, 10 A car socket, above the 7.6 A maximum Dometic publishes for the CFX5 35. The difference is days of runtime.
| Fridge (published daily figure) | DELTA 3 Max | DELTA 3 |
|---|---|---|
| ICECO VL35 ProS, 430 Wh/day | about 4.0–4.3 days | about 2.0–2.1 days |
| Dometic CFX5 35, about 320 Wh/day | about 5.4–5.8 days | about 2.7–2.9 days |
These are estimates using 85–90% of rated capacity, the fridge figures from our power budget guide, no cooking and no charging. Hot weather and frequent opening shorten them. Both manuals describe an AC timeout that can switch off a fridge plugged into an AC outlet. Running the fridge from the 12 V socket avoids that and the inverter.
Edge: DELTA 3 Max, with twice the runtime. If a fridge is your only big load, though, the DELTA 3's two days may be enough between drives or hookups.
Recharging
- AC: EcoFlow lists 1,500 W of AC charging for the DELTA 3. For the DELTA 3 Max, it lists 0–80% in 68 minutes. Both refill quickly from a hookup or generator.
- Solar: both are capped at 500 W on one XT60 port (DELTA 3: 11–60 V, 15 A; DELTA 3 Max: 11–60 V, 13 A). The DELTA 3 Max has twice the battery to fill from the same input, so a solar refill takes about twice as long. EcoFlow's own estimate for the DELTA 3 Max with a 400 W panel is about 6.4 hours.
- Car: both take about 96 W from a 12 V socket. The DELTA 3 Max's manual also lists 24 V at 8 A, which helps in a 24 V vehicle. A full car-socket recharge takes roughly 11 hours on the DELTA 3 and 21 hours on the DELTA 3 Max, by our estimate.
- Alternator: both are listed as compatible with EcoFlow's 800 W Alternator Charger, a permanent install that should follow EcoFlow's instructions and be fitted by a qualified installer where codes or insurers require one.
Edge: DELTA 3, because the same inputs refill a smaller battery in half the time. If you have shore power or an alternator charger, the difference matters much less.
Weight, size and outlets
The DELTA 3 measures 15.7 x 8.0 x 11.2 inches and weighs 27.6 lb. The DELTA 3 Max measures 19.4 x 9.4 x 12.0 inches and weighs 44.8 lb, and its manual warns against lifting it by only one side handle. If the station lives in one spot in the van, the extra 17 lb mostly affects installation and strapping. If you carry it to a picnic table or in and out of a car daily, it matters a lot.
The DELTA 3 has six AC outlets on the US version, against four on the DELTA 3 Max. For a kitchen, four is enough for a cooktop and a couple of chargers, but you can't run them all at full power at once on either station.
Edge: DELTA 3.
Battery life, expansion and warranty
EcoFlow publishes a 4,000-cycle rating to 80%+ capacity for the DELTA 3. The DELTA 3 Max manual we opened gives no cycle rating, and the product page only says its cells offer 10 years of reliable power. The DELTA 3 accepts extra batteries (EcoFlow lists DELTA 3 Series, DELTA 2, DELTA 2 Max and DELTA Pro 3 batteries, up to 5 kWh). The DELTA 3 Max manual lists none; EcoFlow's expandable 2 kWh model is the DELTA 3 Max Plus.
EcoFlow's US page lists a 5-year warranty for the DELTA 3. For the DELTA 3 Max, it describes 3 years standard plus 2 more with app registration. Register either one.
Edge: DELTA 3.
Safety and temperature
Both share the same published ranges: charging at 32–113°F and discharging at 14–113°F. Neither should be left charging in a closed, hot van, and both manuals say to keep the heat dissipation unblocked and the unit away from heat sources. The DELTA 3 Max manual lists an IP20 rating and says to protect it with a waterproof bag in wet conditions. The DELTA 3's battery pack has an IP65 rating on EcoFlow's US page, but treat both as indoor equipment and keep them dry. Neither should be wired into a vehicle's fixed electrical system without following the manufacturer's instructions and using a qualified installer where required.
Edge: Tie.
Value
When we checked, the DELTA 3 Max was listed on Amazon for considerably more than the DELTA 3. Check current prices on the review pages, since they move often. For the extra cost, the DELTA 3 Max gives you twice the stored energy and 600 W more continuous output, which is the difference between running an 1,800 W cooktop with margin and running it at the edge of the rating. You also take on 17 more pounds, two fewer AC outlets, no listed expansion path and no published cycle rating. If you won't cook on induction often, most of that extra cost buys capacity a fridge-and-devices setup won't use, and the DELTA 3 is the better value.
Which one should you buy?
Buy the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max if:
- You'll cook most meals on an 1,800 W induction cooktop and want headroom.
- You want three to five days of 12 V fridge runtime from one charge, by our estimates.
- The station will live in one place in the vehicle, and you can recharge from shore power, a generator or an alternator charger.
Buy the EcoFlow DELTA 3 if:
- Your main loads are a 12 V fridge and devices, or you cook at 1,500 W and below.
- You lift the station often, or space is tight.
- You'd like to add capacity later with an extra battery.
If you want induction headroom but can't carry 44.8 lb, look at the Jackery Explorer 1500 v2: 2,000 W continuous and 1,536 Wh at about 32 lb.
FAQ
Can the DELTA 3 run the Duxtop 9100MC? Yes, but with no headroom. Its 1,800 W continuous rating equals the Duxtop's maximum. Our estimate is about 29–31 minutes at full power. The DELTA 3 Max runs it with about 600 W to spare, for about 58–61 minutes.
Which runs a 12 V fridge longer? The DELTA 3 Max, about twice as long. As an estimate, about 4.0–4.3 days on a 430 Wh-a-day fridge, against 2.0–2.1 days for the DELTA 3.
Can I add an extra battery to either? The DELTA 3 accepts EcoFlow extra batteries. The DELTA 3 Max manual lists none.
Do they charge equally fast from solar? Both are capped at 500 W, so the DELTA 3 Max takes about twice as long to fill from solar because its battery is twice the size.
Is the DELTA 3 Max the same as the DELTA 3 Max Plus? No. This comparison covers the DELTA 3 Max, model EF-DL-H02-3M, rated at 2,400 W. The Max Plus is model EF-DL3-MP, rated at 3,000 W.
